Word source manager

When creating citations, I add a new source and am able to insert a citation as well as insert a bibliography / work cited. However, after opening Source manager, both current and master source lists appear to be empty. I am using macOS Catalina version 10.15.6 and MS Word for Mac version 16.39 (20071300)..
