Upstate New York. Vehicle: 2010 Prius. Model: II. I was driving on the road going about 50 mph when my 2010 Prius suddenly died. The dashboard displays Check Hybrid System and won't shift into drive. This is the first issue I have had with my Prius. The display still shows that the hybrid battery has charge and there is definitely gas in the tank.You could probably just replace the one or two cells (about $30 per cell) and be fine for a while. If that’s the only bad one it should last a lot longer. I’m having a similar issue, my car stalled while idling after I did some work on it and now won’t start. I must have depleted the battery while it was sitting.The ICE engine had been acting sluggish and sounding weird, and then while driving the engine just failed to turn on like it was stuck in hybrid mode, barely limped the car home, hybrid battery struggled with the uphill driveway, and the "check hybrid system" message flashed.
